Sheena Odenweller, DVM

Sheena Odenweller

Associate Veterinarian

Dr. Sheena Bowen Odenweller joins this practice as a 2010 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Sheena was born and raised in Stanton, KY. She started riding at the age of eight, learning on Rocky Mountain horses. After high school, she attended undergraduate at Midway College for two years. While there she competed in IHSA on the Western Team. She transferred to Eastern Kentucky University where she gained veterinary experience working in a mixed animal practice. Her intention was to follow this veterinary career path upon graduation.

Four years at Auburn with class work and clinics, particularly related to horses, Dr. Odenweller’s experience and love of all animals, quickly grew to concentrating on the equine species. However, her mixed animal practice experiences continue to be useful in the care of her companion critters – 3 dogs and 3 cats!

In veterinary school, Sheena was a member of the Society of Theriogenology, the American Association of Equine Practitioners and Omega Tau Sigma Professional fraternity. It was as a member of OTS that Sheena met her husband, Patrick Odenweller, a year ahead of her in veterinary school and a native of Shelbyville, KY.  They were married in November 2011.

Dr. Odenweller received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine degree in May 2010 and after completing a year’s internship with Dr. Easley, joined the practice as an associate. Her professional interests include dentistry, reproduction and herd health management. She is an active member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, American Veterinary Medical Association,  KY Veterinary Medical Association, and the KY Association of Equine Practitioners.  Sheena is currently completing the equine dental course given by the International College of Equine Veterinary Odontologists.  Like Dr. Easley, she enjoys lecturing on topics of herd health, reproduction, nutrition and dentistry.  Client education is important to our veterinarians and they attempt to communicate through healthy horse seminars, 4-H and pony club programs and social media.

Sheena and her husband Patrick recently purchased a small farm in Shelby Co., where they live with two horses and the rest of their 4-legged friends.  Patrick has an interest in dentistry as well–but the little critters–and is currently serving in a residency to become a board certified small animal dentist.
